“COCOONed”

Zinaida Likhacheva’s name is closely related to the genesis of ethno-modern style in Ukrainian fashionindustry.
Ethno-modern for Zinaida is not only the design trend, but also her worldview.

Autumn/Winter 2011.12 is the third season for the designer. Zinaida successfully debuted with her collections,
based on sacred geometry principles (Sunlight, Autumn/Winter 2010.11) and art-fashion (VidLunnia,
Spring/Summer 2011). In her third collection COCOОNed she consolidates and reinforces previous
principles as a crucial background. Art-fashion as an integral part of ethno-modern has already become
the key element of Likhachova brand artistic style. And in her new collection the designer replenishes it
with new meaning.

CONCEPT
The collection embodies the “Cocoon principle” and attempts to reconsider an archaic egg shape not
only though the form, but through deeply symbolic and multidimensional variety of ornaments. Zinaida
Likhacheva suggests considering and feeling clothes as the way to communicate with the world.
The garment goes beyond the second-skin concept and transforms into the second-aura. Thus, the
COCOONed collection appeals to your world perception.

SILHOUETTE
The key element of the collection is the shape which flows from its external aspect into the internal one,
thus transforming the superficial into the essential.
The core element is the stable ellipse, which gently embraces and wraps a body, providing warmth and
cosiness.
The seemingly simple shape in reality demanded complex constructive solutions. In particular, the
sideline placement at the back of garments. The rounded shape dictated unconventional tailoring with
special cuts, as well as garment decoration with artistic prints and batik paintings.

COLOUR PALETTE
Archetypes are reflected not only in the shape, but in colours of the collection. The colour palette is
inspired by natural substances: soil (thus, deep shades), clay (thus, intense shades), and stone (thus, cold
shades).
Emerging from viscous darkness of soil, the colour is transformed into powerful blue-grey and greybrown.
Sunny snowflakes become the summit of the colour spectrum, providing that golden glow to
the cold sobriety of garments.
The core of the colour scheme is art-fashion element introduced through designer’s painting. It reconciles
and binds all the collection pieces and forms its conceptual intensity.

FABRICS
The designer used variety of silk-wool, knit-silk combinations in oblique cut to create the sophisticated
multilayer effect and draperies.
